Field Visit to Almatti Dam

BLDEA's S.B. Arts and K.C.P. Science College, Vijayapura

A field visit to Almatti Dam was organized on 02/04/2026 by the Department of Economics for BA VI semester students as part of the Environmental Economics subject. The visit aimed to provide practical understanding of how economic activities impact the environment and the importance of sustainable resource management. Students observed the dam’s role in irrigation, hydroelectric power generation, drinking water supply, and tourism, highlighting its economic significance in North Karnataka as part of the Upper Krishna Project. The visit also helped analyze environmental impacts of large dams and the balance between development and sustainability. The program was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Rajeshwari S. Puranik, HoD, along with faculty members Afreenbi A. Nagadegar and Bhimshi M. Madarakhandi.
