Special Lecture Programme

Vijayapura: On 12 November 2025, a special lecture programme on the topic “Creation of the Universe in Vachanas” was organized jointly by the IQAC, the Kannada Department, and the Linguistics Forum of S.B. Arts and KCP Science College, Vijayapura, under the auspices of the B.L.D.E. Institution.

The chief guest of the programme was renowned writer Dr. Sangamesh Metri from Vijayapura, who delivered a scholarly lecture on the subject. In his address, he stated that the Sharanas had already discussed the principles and concepts of science in their vachanas as early as the 12th century. He referred to the thoughts expressed by the Sharanas on botany, physical science, and the living world.

He explained that the Sharanas interpreted the concept of the universe and cosmos as consciousness and the Supreme Soul. According to them, the energy of consciousness is embedded in all living and non-living beings. He emphasized to the students that this profound thought is not a product of modern science; rather, it was a great philosophical contribution given to society by the Sharanas nearly 850 years ago.
