The Management of BLDE Association introduced the Science discipline in the year 1952 with Chemistry as one of the major subjects to cater to the needs of industries and higher education. The first batch had a strength of 12 students. The devoted teacher Prof. P.S.Shastri headed the department and Prof. S.B.Shille was given additional responsibility of teaching degree students. Presently,Dr.U.S.Pujeri is the head of the department.
The department offers Chemistry as one of the three subjects of equal importance at B.Sc degree.
