Counselling is a process that aims to facilitate the personal well being of the students through the support and guidance of trained counselors. The Counseling Cell at our college aims to facilitate wise choices and decisions and promote adaptation and mental health. The Cell encourages the students to understand the issues that trouble them and guides them to resolve their problems. These problems can be personal, emotional, social, family, peer, academic, sexual, etc. This is done through individual or group counseling to help them achieve their educational and career goals and develop a good personality. The Counselor offers support by listening and responding in a confidential, non-judgmental and timely way and ensures that the students become productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow. Counselors are trained to assess, diagnose and treat students struggling with academic stress, anxiety, depression, social addictions and other problems they face.
Counseling aims to facilitate positive behaviour changes, improving the student’s ability to establish and maintain relationships socially, promoting their decision-making process, helping the student understand their potential and cope effectively with the problems they face.
(This helps students work constructively toward life/career planning and help them anticipate, plan, and react constructively to developmental issues and transitions by integrating thinking, feeling, and behavior into a congruent expression of the self. Students will be able to respond productively to stress and reduce its negative impact on their lives. They can develop practical interpersonal skills so that relationships with peers, family and others can have productive potential. They can assess strengths and identify weaknesses to build self-awareness and create more choices in their lives, with accompanying skills to make constructive decisions.)
