Statistics

The Department was established in the year 1962. It has continuously produced illustrious students who have occupied important and prestigious positions in the various institutions.

The Department of Statistics is committed to the advancement of knowledge and learning through teaching in Statistics. The faculty members of the department are extending consultancy services to the Engineering, Medical and Agricultural Sectors. The students of the department show a consistent and commendable performance in the University.

The department of Statistics offers B.Sc with Statistics as one of the 03 subjects of equal importance.
The department also offers ‘Applied Statistics’ for B.A students.
Statistics as a core subject has 02 combinations in Science and 12 combinations in Arts faculty.

Objectives

To train the students to acquire analytical, logical thinking and draw an inference using statistical tools.
To use advanced technology in Statistical analysis.
To plan to form an IT Club and to extend the knowledge in advanced technology.

Strategies

To conduct an Orientation program for new students.
To evaluate the students' progress from time to time.
To conduct the seminars /workshops.
To hold Annual Department Day and to review the activities of the academic year.
