Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC)

History

  • At present, Journalism and Mass Communication is offered as one of the 03 subjects of equal importance to BA UG students.
  • Journalism and Mass Communication as a core subject has 09  combinations.
  • The department offers UGC sponsored Career Oriented Programme (COP) in ‘Family  Welfare and Counselling’. There is a provision to study Certificate, Diploma and Advance Diploma.

Aim

  • “The purpose of journalism and mass communication is to inform, educate and enlighten of the field. And to solve the social problems and become a best Journalist”.

Objectives

  • To write a variety of mass media products, including news stories, press releases, and advertising copy, following accepted journalistic standards, including Associated Press style.
  • To create and design emerging media products, including blogs, digital audio, digital video, social media, digital photography, and multimedia.
  • To apply relevant case law involving journalism and other mass media issues.
  • To make effective oral presentations on a variety of topics in public settings.
  • To apply basic and advanced human communication theories and models to academic and professional situations.
  • To make effective business and professional presentations to internal and external audiences

Strategies

  • To visit Print media as well as electronic media like, Newspaper office, T.V. channels and Radio Station and portal Media
  • Digital media creating more job opportunities.
  • To develop Research temperament among the students by assigning surveys/ projects.
