Mathematics

The department of Mathematics was established in 1945. A firm foundation was laid by Prof. T. K. Patil, who headed the department during its inception. At present, Shri A. S. Khyadi is the Head of the department. The department offers a B.Sc. with Mathematics as one of the three main subjects of equal importance. Mathematics as a core subject has four combinations with other options.

The combinations available with chemistry as a major subject are:

Aim

To develop a positive attitude towards Mathematics.
To develop an ability to think and communicate mathematically-precisely, logically and creatively.
To create an ability to apply Mathematics to other areas of the curriculum.

Objectives

To develop problem-solving skills.
To learn to apply physical insight and mathematical techniques to the solution of problems.
To develop the ability to classify, generalize, and justify or prove statements.

Strategies

To prepare conspectus for various classes along with individual Time- Table.
To conduct an orientation program for new students (i.e. for first semester students).
To utilize the expected budget for the academic year.
To evaluate students' progress from time to time.
To conduct seminars and workshops for students.
