Physics and Electronics

BLDEA established the physics department in 1952, and the electronics department was introduced in 1985.

We are proud to report that the foundation stone of the Physics lab was laid by Shri Morarjee Desai, the then Chief Minister of Bombay State. Prof. P. C. Rao initially headed the department. At present, S.B. Pattadakal is the head of the department. The department has an adequate number of qualified, experienced teachers. Some of its faculty members are PhD holders, and many are M. Phil holders. The faculty members regularly publish and present papers in National Seminars/ Conferences. The faculty also trains Distance Education M. Phil students. The department offers a degree in B.Sc. in Physics and Electronics. These subjects are taught as one of the three main subjects.

Physics as a core subject has three combinations with other optional subjects.

Aim

  • To foster a friendly and stimulating learning environment for the students to reach the goal.

Objectives

  • To instill scientific temperament in students.
  • To motivate the students to pursue Basic Research in the field of Physics.
  • To make the students self-confident and committed graduates.

Strategies

  • To evaluate the students’ progress from time to time.
  • To conduct seminars /workshops in the department.
  • To celebrate National Science Day on 28th February every year.
  • To conduct essays, quiz, debate competitions & study visits for students under the club.
