Physics is the fundamental scientific discipline that gives us a view of how the universe works. S.B. Arts and K.C.P. Science College, Belagavi, offers a postgraduate course in Chemistry for candidates who have successfully completed a B.Sc. degree in science with physics as one of the main subjects. The Post Graduation course is affiliated with R.C.U. Belagavi and is designed to hone the talent of candidates in the field of matter physics, nuclear physics, electronics, spectroscopy, etc., along with through fundamental knowledge of physics. The course focuses on emerging topics, such as Nanotechnology, Instrumentations, Material science, and other interface branches.

Opportunities

There is a wide range of career options for a postgraduate in physics. There are vast opportunities available in the government as well as the private sector. Candidates can pursue a career in research and development, physics research laboratories, jobs in govt organizations such as BARC, ONGC, BHEL, NTPC and ISRO. They can also take up teaching jobs in government colleges and schools.

Intake

The number of students to be admitted into the course is 22. Reservation policy for SC/ST/Cat-I candidates of other categories accepted by the P.G. council shall be followed.

Objectives

To produce competent computer science faculties.
To promote and encourage research in various streams of computer science to cater to the development of the Nation.
To demonstrate a substantial understanding of concepts in key areas of computer science.
To demonstrate professional competency in developing software and in its design and implementation.

Subjects

There are four core papers in each semester.
Open elective course in sem. II and III.
Project work in semester IV.

Eligibility

B.Sc. with Physics as one of the optionals.
Minimum 45% of marks in aggregate at degree level (40% for SC/ST/Cat-I) or as per recent guidelines of Parent University.

Note: Graduate students seeking admissions have to produce an eligibility certificate from The Registrar, Rani Channamma University, Belagavi.
