MA English

S.B. Arts and K.C.P. Science College, Belagavi, offers a two-year postgraduate course in English. The postgraduate course in English is a self-financed course.

Opportunities

There is a wide range of career options for a postgraduate in physics. There are vast opportunities available in the government as well as the private sector. Candidates can pursue a career in research and development, physics research laboratories, jobs in govt organizations such as BARC, ONGC, BHEL, NTPC and ISRO. They can also take up teaching jobs in government colleges and schools.

Aim

  • To introduce the candidates to the different aspects of English Literature and enhance their knowledge.
  • To enable the students to communicate undauntedly and confidently in the English language.
  • To train students to master the linguistic and scientific aspects of different areas in the English Language program.
  • To support the learning process by providing environments where teaching, research, training, and practice complement each other.

  • To equip the students with good knowledge and skills and enable them to pursue their studies in linguistics, translation, criticism, literature, and teaching English as a foreign language.

Objectives

  • The basic criteria to speak English fluently is fulfilled in the course at the early stage.
  • After the completion of M.A. in English, the students will be eligible for taking up the Centre Government based competitive exams such as N.E.T. and KSET.
  • Students with an M.A. in English and NET/KSET are easily appointed as U.G.C. Assistant Professor.
  • Students can run their own institutions offering coaching classes such as English communication classes or English Grammar classes, or NET/KSET classes.
  • Students can fetch lucrative jobs in Companies or Institutions for enhancing the English Speaking capability of Employees.
  • Students with an M.A. in English are eligible for pursuing P.hd and become a Research Scholar.

The number of students to be admitted into the course is 32. Reservation Policy for SC/ST/PH/HK & candidates of other categories

Eligibility for Admission

Students must pass B.A (Optional English) with an aggregate of 50% (SC/ST) & 55% (GENERAL)

About Course

M.A. English course is of Two Years duration which is divided into Four Semesters. Three semesters consist of six subjects, and the fourth Semester will have Five subjects with one Project Work. Each Semester will have Two Internal Assessment Tests of 20 marks and one University-based Exam of 80 marks.
