The Department of Social Work was started in the year 1984. Prof. P.B. Puranikmath laid the foundation of the department. At present, Prof. M.G. Yankanchi is heading the department. The department offers B.A. degree with Social Work as one of the 03 subjects of equal importance. 06 number of combinations are available.

Aim

“To prepare students to become competent and effective professionals to develop social work knowledge”.

Objectives

To make the students understand society and social problems.
To provide understanding of society and social problem.
To orient them to the techniques of working with people.
To provide the basic knowledge of social work practice.

Strategies

Inviting guest lectures from different places to make the students competent in social work.
To take up research work and publish papers.
To introduce crash course on ‘Food and Nutrition’.
